The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recommends the candidates on the basis of vacancies reported by various Ministries/ Departments/ Cadre Controlling Authorities taking into account the vacancies reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, as per reservation roster maintained by them.
