India’s First Steel Slag Road

• A new road constructed from processed steel slag (industrial waste) was completed in Surat, based on technology developed at the CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi, and in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Steel, NITI Ayog, and ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel (AM/NS). 
• The use of processed steel slag reduces the need for perishable natural aggregates and fosters sustainable waste management.
• Steel-making slag is an impurity created through melting ore.
