(Success Story) UPSC 2022 TOPPER, AIR- 10: RAHUL SRIVASTAVA SUCCESS STORY AND TIPS



Rahul Srivastava has secured 10th rank in the UPSC Civil Services examination, 2022. He is a native of Patna. Despite facing disappointment in his earlier attempts, he remained resilient. Finally, he achieved a remarkable achievement by securing the rank in the toppers list. During an interview media, he said 

"My end goal is to contribute to the country’s development in every possible manner, especially at grassroot level. Further he adds his idea of governance is to have a country with empathetic bureaucrats and administration which stands strong for the ones in need".

His educational background

He completed his school education at DAV, Patna. After that he completed his B.Tech degree from NIT Trichy. After graduation he decided to opt for civil services preparation. He chooses Electrical engineering as his optional subject.

Rahul Srivastava's UPSC preparation strategy

Prepare a robust study plan

Rahul used to prepare a study timetable on the basis of UPSC syllabus and followed it every day. First of all he read the syllabus thoroughly.  After that he did a thorough analysis of all subjects and categorized it priority-wise. He was consistent with his study schedule and also routinely monitored his progress. 

Self study approach

He did not take help or studies in any coaching while preparing for UPSC exam. Rahul said, just keep your sources minimal and follow the best sources available. Start with basics and then you can move on to standard textbooks.

He advised the aspirants that by self study you can also clear the exam. Just stick to your plan and follow it religiously. This might prove to be your biggest challenge, but try your best not to deviate from the plan or lag behind.

Always keep a don't give up attitude

He said that it took him years to crack the UPSC exam. But he never gives up. He always learnt from his mistakes and was careful in his next attempt. Despite the failures in his earlier attempts he did not give up; he knew that determination, consistency and hard work would pay off one day.

Strategy for current affairs

Rahul said, current affairs are a significant part of UPSC CSE. Don't ignore it. It is very important that you make a habit of reading a newspaper every day either The Hindu or The Indian Express. Focus on some government websites of various important ministries and PIB for authentic information. 

At last, Rahul advised the aspirants to prepare in the right direction and with hard work. Understanding and conceptual clarity are the keys to crack the UPSC exam. Ultimately, follow what seems to work best for you because each person has to chart their own journey.
